What Is The Best Defragmentation Software?
I’ve tried various defragmentation software, but I’m having trouble deciding which is the best one. Window’s version of disk defragmenter does an adequate job, but there’s obviously some freeware that could do better since the software lacks an optimization feature. I am wondering which do you guys like better. Piriform’s Defraggler, Auslogics Disk Defrag, Smart Defrag 1.20 by iobit, or anything else you might recommend.

My Defragmentation Takes Forever?
I’m running 64bit Vista on Intel® Core™2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB), 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 Ram and 285gb HD only 140gb of space used.
The problem is that defragmentation takes way too long i left it on for the whole night and its still going at it…
Any advices, comments, concerns are appreciated.
Is Frequent Defragmentation Bad For Your Hard Disk?
Its good for your hard drive. It organizes your files. Not everything is kept together when it comes to certain files. Certain parts are stored in different places and organizing this makes your hard drive work less vs not defragging it and it working more. Hard drives have moving parts and as with anything that has moving parts it will wear out quicker the harder its worked.
My Defragmentation Process Was Interrupted And Can Not End It?
It really isn’t good when that process gets interrupted. However I suppose you really need to end it, have you tried to end it by using the task manager? Press ctrl+shift+esc and look at the applications tab and right click the problem app and click end. If that doesn’t work even after a few tries and you waiting around the only option I could suggest is to hard boot your machine. Look for the power button on your computer case and hold it down for a few seconds, and that will turn it off (some systems require you to let go after a while for it to boot, it differs from machine to machine). After everything has stopped spinning in your machine press the button again to boot it back up.
