I only have 1 computer in my house. All I do on it is check the news, play non username/password required games, and basically nothing else. I know people say every computer needs a antivirus. But the only thing I do on it that requires anything personal is a yahoo account. How important is it to use a antivirus? My mom says 30-60$ is a little expensive and I needed to come on here to check if I should.

find and download a free antivirus such as avg or avast
since you wont be downloading a lot of crap, a free one should be just fine.

I have a computer that i havent used in a looooong time about 3 years because we didn’t know what happened to it so we got a pc xp pro which cost me 40 bucks (cool huh?) and i need to Clean the whole computer, i don’t care if all my pics and music and get deleted.
if your asking yourself why i wanna do this is because it is kinda slow.
i have the iniblue pack which made it less slower and avg 8.0 both licensed. the only thing i need is for it to go back the way it was, run like it should be. (plz don’t post finally fast(dot)com, i know your probably gonna tell me that crap that you need to pay for)

Reformat the hard drive, if you just put in the new XP cd you bought, and run from that you can delete the partition already on the computer and clean install the new OS so it will be like new…ish!

I get a c:\windows\sysem32\flkylsh.dll warning every time I start my pc now. I believe that it means I need to repair/ clean my registry ( I think) Is there any way to do this other than buying a registry cleaner software package? I don’t trust what I see on line, too much hidden crap . Is there a Windows solution to this problem already in my puter?

the best solution to clean registry is just wipe the HDD and reinstall.
back up your files first, then you’ll have a fresh new (and much faster) OS.

My bro used my computer and started downloading a bunch of crap since he kept saying yes to everything it asked of him while I think he was looking at Myspace crap. How Do You Reinstall Windows Media Player Codecs?
I downloaded a program called Tunebite to check it out but when i uninstalled it my wmp 11 now makes all my video look like crap (Its like a bunch of small squares). Im assuming i have to reinstall the codes. Any tips?
