Midi Doesn’t Sound Right In Sony Laptop?
I just bought a new laptop Sony VGN-SZ55GN but can’t play all my midi correctly.
SZ55GN Spec:
Windows Vista and SigmaTeL High Definition Audio CODEC
The strange things is when I played midi with Winamp Player the midi will played only the “bass” part like drum and percussion
If I played midi with Windows Media Player the midi will played only the “non bass” part other than drum and percussion
(as you guess, I can play the midi perfectly if I opened 2 of them together, but it troublesome ^^;)
I have tried another software as well, software to convert midi to sheet music like MidiNotate and Midiillustrator which usually plays all perfectly but now I only can hear the “bass” part.
I have tried to use earphone and it’s useless, same as above.
Am I having:
a. Plugins problem?
b. Driver problem?
c. Compatibility problem? (with Vista?)
d. Damaged SoundCard? (but mp3 works perfectly)
e. Software problem?
f. Broken Midi?
g. Hearing Impairment problem? definitely no!

Is There A Way To Test My Hdd For Problems?
Is there a way to test an HDD to see if it’s failing? or soon to die?
My situation stands as this! ^_^
I recently reinstalled my OS and did a dual-boot install (I always do this). I keep one side as my Workstation for music production, completely cut off from the internet (after I install all neccessary drivers for everything and xp (64) updates) and with no other apps installed (such as games, media apart from what is neccessary, etc)
This has worked for me in the past and I have had no problems out of the specific software that I use.
The other side is for everything else that you’d expect to use a home computer for. Games, browsing the net, media, downloading etc.
Before I decided to a clean install I was experiencing problems watching movies or anime on my computer. Some files of a series would for no reason play, despite w/e player I used (I used VLC, GOM player, the K-lite codec bundle, everything people suggested to me)
and yet some of the files WOULD play, or files that were of the same format of a different series would play just fine. Oftentimes with any .mkv files that acted this way, I would just convert them to AVI and they would work fine afterwards.
Then I started to notice problem on the Workstation (The other OS installed for my dual-boot setup.) Up until now I have had no problems, but now I’ve been experiencing random crashes in FL Studio whenever I’m loading plugins, that otherwise used to work before.
Other items of interest I notice on both OS’s is how sometimes I would get the error message “This disk is write-protected, etc etc files cannot be edited blah blah blah” whenever I try to save something somewhere, or delete a file on a specifc partition, or sometimes on all of them. I end up having to restart the computer several times before this error goes away. But soon enough it appears again.
Is this the sign of the HDD going wacky on me? I haven’t installed any new hardware, much less introduced any new software that I’m aware of compared to my last reinstall of windows. And since these problems occur on both OS boots, is it possible? The HDD itself is making no noise, so I’m not sure if it’s that or not. I have done scandisk with all of its options, no errors are found, I defrag often enough. I do not know much else to do, are they’re programs out that scan your HDD for bad sectors or what not?
Where Can I Find A Video Converter That Converts .wma And .ram Videos To A Mac Compatible Form?
I bought a Mac not too long ago and am finally getting around to moving files from my old PC to my Mac.
I need a video converter that can convert all my Windows Media videos and my RealPlayer videos into Mac compatible forms (.mp4 .mov etc).
Most importantly I need the most dummy proof, easy to follow converter. I know practically nothing about codecs, add ons, plugins, the “Terminal” application, and all this other crap.
I just tried FFmpegX. I downloaded it, along with all the binaries and add ons and it isn’t working.
Like I said, I’m a complete idiot when it comes to computers so I need a video converter that has NO learning curve whatsoever.
I don’t mind paying for one either, assuming it’s easy to use and actually works.
Audio Not Working On Ubuntu?
my sound was working just fine until i installed the Gstreamer codecs and vlc media player. now it gives me this message everytime i try to change the sound level. there is no sound at all. i uninstalled the codecs and vlc media player and it still wont work.
The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don’t have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don’t have a sound card configured.
You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting “Remove From Panel” from the menu.
Lightwieght Video Players For Pc?
I have an older PC (celeron 1.3ghz, 12bmb RAM) that I have hooked up to my TV to play videos that I have downloaded. It runs at a low resolution, and I don’t use the keyboard, only the mouse.
I had been using Winamp 2 to play avi, mpg, wmv, and mpeg. Windows Media Player was set up to play mkvs. I started having conflicts with codecs and video splitters, so I ditched Winamp and WMP in favor of VLC, which can play everything.
The problem is that VLC’s interface is really hard to work with on this PC. Winamp’s was easy, but I had to have all kinds of additional codecs and plugins, and had to tinker with ffdshow when watching anything that had subtitles or multiple audio tracks.
What I’m looking for is a video player that will play everything vlc plays without installing any codecs or addons, doesn’t use a lot of resources, doesn’t require getting into ffdshow, with a simple interface, and the ability to add options to the windows right-click menu when I select a video file.

Aimp Multimedia Player 2009?
I am a big multimedia fan. I have tried all the hardware and software players, mp4s, mp3s, etc. I am tired of the same old at this point. I looking for a program that allows me to play all video and audio file formats even if I have to use codecs or plugins. So far I am down to Windows Media Player, Winamp and Aimp. They all have amazing skins and WMP has some supercool 3D skins. Winamp is cool because it is easy to skin and takes a simple image and uses it with a skin program and voila, a skin is created just like that. I wish Aimp was that easy. I know AIMP has a skin program too but it just isn’t working for me. I wouldn’t mind a skin program like Winamp’s. Maybe there is something I am missing with the Aimp skin program when it comes to making skins. Maybe I am not giving it a hard enough try. Anyone who can give me a boost to learn to use it. Please give advice, one and all.

Cnn Not Recognizing Windows Media Player In Firefox?
Hello, for some reason when I go to CNN.com, and click on a video, it won’t recognize that I have Windows Media Player installed. I can play videos that require WMP on other sites, but for some reason I have trouble with CNN.
(Also, Yahoo! has trouble playing videos (the video either loads waaay to big, or only the advertisement plays).
Both of these work fine in IE7
I have WMP 11, (I also have Quicktime alternative & RealAlternative not sure if that is what is causing the problem), and codecs in the about:plugins are all there.
Any ideas?
