The best way to this is to look at the DELL Service Tag on the bottom of your laptop
    1. Get that sticker number
    2. Visit http://support.dell.com/support/index.as…
    3. Click on DRIVERS & DOWNLOAD
    4. Then click on Service Tag.
    5. Enter that number.
Start with downloading each of these. Especially CHIPSET, IDE/EIDE Controller, VIDEO, AUDIO and NETWORK. Then BURN a CD of this stuff.
Start your installation with Chipset and IDE/EIDE stuff. Reboot and do the rest. When you do VIDEO, you can skip the REBOOT until you have done the others, then reboot when you have done the last one.
You should consider these tools, instead of what came with the laptop: (uninstall that old version of Norton).
Visit http://www.download.com and use the search features to get these:
AVG (free version) – a good free anti-virus
CCleaner – for cleaning crap from your computer
    SpyBot Search & Destroy
    Ad-aware
use these tools to keep your computer clean of viruses, spyware and other threats.
Then visit http://www.mozilla.com and get the free FireFox. You see, this is a safer way to surf.
    Good luck
