Does anyone know how to (permanently) disable the private browsing option on safari; on a Windows XP? I know how to do it on a Mac but my computer right now is XP.

(you must have Xcode tools installed… its a free download from apple.com but also included with newer macs. and putting up a modified binary would be futile, because it will be changed every safari/mac os x update, so whenever you update the software, make sure to follow these steps again.)
    1. Go to applications folder in Finder
    2. right click (with a mighty mouse or 2 button mouse, or Control+click for one button mice) on safari and choose “Show Package Contents”
    3. Go to Contents, then Resources, then English.lproj folder (or a respective folder for whatever language you have maybe)
    4. Double click on MainMenu.nib to open it in interface builder
    5. look at the window with the safari menu, click on Safari to expand it, then click on the Private Browsing menu item.
    6. hit the delete key and it disappears!
    7. hit apple+s to save, close interface builder if you want, and relaunch safari.
and there, no more private browsing option! hope this helps everyone.

Safari (since the launch of Mac OS X 10.4) has included a feature called Private Browsing that does not keep track of history, cookies, cache, etc. when enabled. The availability of this option can only be modified on non-administrative accounts. To remove the Private Browsing menu option for all users of the computer (including Administrative accounts), do the following (Note: you must have the Xcode tools installed):
Control or right-click on the Safari icon in Finder and choose Show Package Contents.
In the window that appears, navigate to Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ and double click on the MainMenu.nib file.
In Interface Builder, select the window showing the Safari menu bar.
Select the Safari menu, then select the private browsing item and press delete.
Type command-S to save the changes, then close Interface Builder and restart Safari.
This removes the Private Browsing menu option, effectively disabling private browsing.
