Question by Harmony du Muertre: How do you know if a graphics card is going to be compatible with your computer?
Ok so I’m looking into buying a new graphics card for my computer, mainly because I need a new one that is going to be compatible with Sims 2 (My current graphics card isn’t supported.) and I need to know the following:
A. Need to know how to find out if a graphics card is going to be compatible with my computer.
B. What graphics card (I’ve been looking at a GeForce FX5200 on my local pc stores website for the past couple of days and it is a supported one) that is a supported card, would be good for playing sims 2.
Ok so I only need to know that one thing…

If its going to help, I have a PowerSpec 8921(I got it as a gift from my dad so I didn’t buy it.)
I know enough about my computer, but something like a graphics card is a little new to me, but I’m learning.

Finf out whether youhave an AGP, PCI or PCIe slot.

Your first choice is PCIe, second in AGP, PCI is last.

If AGP, find out the AGP speed.

Otherwise, check the wattage on your power supply.

Now compare these 2 items to your cards required specs.

Microfiber cloth, or glasses cloth. I usually add a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean the various kinds of dried splatters.

No negative effect yet.

Question by Eddie P: How do you return font and graphics to normal size on computer?
My mom must have accidentally clicked something, her graphics and font is now extremely tiny. She said something about flash player came on screen just before everything shrunk on her computer. I had no answer for her about returning font and graphics to normal size. This is consistent on every page she enters, they are all smaller.

do you mean everything on the desktop or in a browser because you mentioned “page”.
in a browser, just set the zoom to 100% to make it regular sized.

Your pc IS INFECTED WITH ADWARE. uSE THESE SCANS TO REMOVE IT, BOTH ARE FREE.

pybot – Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven’t intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been “hijacked” (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don’t see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there’s no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Is overclocking your graphics card bad for the card, or the computer?

Question by Azza: Is overclocking your graphics card bad for the card, or the computer?
I recently bought a new game The witcher, now my computer is old but not that old. My graphics card is an WinFast A6600 GT , how much should i overclock it so it runs smoothly, or even runs at all (because it wont run for longer than 30 mins due to the low virtual memory) also any tips or links to overclocking would help. Cheers mate.

Best answer:

Answer by jim
It is bad for the video card only.

If the game won’t run more than 30 min then it is possible that the graphics card is over heating and it is not because of the clock speed.
If the graphics card is slow then a game should still run normally ‘except’ that the game will lag .

the best program for overclocking is rivertuner but it may not support every graphics card.
